Equipment

 I do not profess to be an expert on equipment or walking long distances but i am trying to make my pack as light as i can. 

 This is a list of the equipment i am taking with me i hope to keep the weight down to around 14kg max.


  • 1 Ruck sac Osprey aether brand  went for one of the more expensive brands rather than the ones you get from Anaconda. It seems nice and feels ok only time will tell.
  • Tent is a Cloud-up 2 ultralight tent (or so they claim) Seems a bit heavier than they claim but maybe they were just talking about the tent and not the poles etc. It has pretty good reviews on You Tube etc.
  • Sleeping bag Black Wolf hiker 300  again reasonably expensive but its what you want to keep you warn.
  • Sleeping mattress Sea to Summit air stream. hopefully will not puncture.
  • Inner sleeping bag Sea to summit.
  • Inflatable pillow Sea to Summit

 I have finally decided hiking sux . Yesterday was a trying day to say the least . It started off in Bath trying to work out where the actual walk started. After a couple of attempts following my OS maps I decided to ask some one. You would think that locals would have a bit of an idea well after about the seventh person I finally met a nice old gentleman who told me follow Landsdowne road to the end he did mention it was a bit hilly. Well I would like to nominate it for the longest hill in the UK it just went on and on steep also at one stage I thought I may need oxygen. When i finally found the start of the yellow brick road off I went . Through some boring field edges then it got a bit more interesting. Day 7

Now at a place called ST Agnes staying the night at an old pub I walked from Portreath . Not that far just around 15 kl feet and legs a bit sore so taking it easy. Met a really nice South African woman and told her I could not source walking poles any where so she gave me hers very kind of her.  To be honest this is the toughest thing I have ever attempted. I am now at Boscastle I was lucky to get booked for two nights at a great YHA .  Tomorrow I set off to Bude my feet are feeling a bit better but I will try battle on. Boscastle is a interesting cute little village. It has a tideal harbour area where you can see the ocean tidal surge coming through to eventually fill the harbour. It looks spectacular with raging torrents and blow holes in the rocks. I went to the witchcraft museum to pass a bit of time and cut down on walking it was quite interesting  Amazing what they use to think a few years ago. But whoooo knows😊
