Cotswold Wayyyyyyyyy

Image
I have finally decided hiking sux . Yesterday was a trying day to say the least . It started off in Bath trying to work out where the actual walk started. After a couple of attempts following my OS maps I decided to ask some one. You would think that locals would have a bit of an idea well after about the seventh person I finally met a nice old gentleman who told me follow Landsdowne road to the end he did mention it was a bit hilly. Well I would like to nominate it for the longest hill in the UK it just went on and on steep also at one stage I thought I may need oxygen. When i finally found the start of the yellow brick road off I went . Through some boring field edges then it got a bit more interesting. I came across the site of the Battle of lands down that took place in 1643.  The area where this bloody battle took place .So after passing this historic site I went on my merry way over fields stone walls etc. Then I went down this field and there was a bunch of cows all gathered ar

Bude

With great regret I have decided not to aim for John o Groats . Yesterday the walk from Boscastle to Bude  was extremely hard . There was hill after hill I was not enjoying it with the weight of my back pac. This was just a couple of them. As in the movie Dirty Harry Clint Eastwood pointed a colt 45 to a guys head and said every man should know his limitation well I agree now I know mine. I accept my failings and move on. So I have decided to bus to Exeter and train ride to Bath have a night or two there then walk the Cotswold way. This walk is suppose to be a bit more forgiving. Cornwall is beautiful I walked most of the walk I guess I just did not prepare myself as much as I should. My biggest draw back is the weight of my rucksack it feels ok on the flat but climbing hill that is more like mountain climbing than trail walking is another thing. I still intend to do a blog of my travels sorry about John o Groats but my health comes first. Thank you to all who donated towards my chari

To be honest this is the toughest thing I have ever attempted. I am now at Boscastle I was lucky to get booked for two nights at a great YHA .  Tomorrow I set off to Bude my feet are feeling a bit better but I will try battle on. Boscastle is a interesting cute little village. It has a tideal harbour area where you can see the ocean tidal surge coming through to eventually fill the harbour. It looks spectacular with raging torrents and blow holes in the rocks. I went to the witchcraft museum to pass a bit of time and cut down on walking it was quite interesting  Amazing what they use to think a few years ago. But whoooo knows😊

Hi to anyone reading my blogs sorry it’s been a while but not been i a position to blog. After leaving Padstow stayed at Treyarron Point I camped the night at the rear of a YHA some stunning scenery on the way to Padstow. Coming into Padstow harbour Ric Stein seems to own half the town he must be loaded. Stayed at a nice campsite just out of town. Seeing I am suppose to be going to John o Groats so the rules are i am not allowed to catch a ferry so instead of trying to make my way back onto the South coast trac from Waybridge I went inland and took the Camel trail which was over 17 miles so around 34 kl believe me I was pooped at the end also my feet hurt like hell. I ended up in a small town called Churchtown on the edge of the Boding moores. There was no accomodation to be had or even camp site . So feeling a bit disgruntled to say the least I went into the local pub I got cheating to a few of the locals who tried to help me find somewhere. In the end they suggest it wild camp on the

Crantock

Last night stayed at a campsite at a place called Crantock not to far from Newquay but difficult to get there. It rained all last night but my little tent held up well. The biggest problems was getting over the water to Newquay.I ended up following a path that took me through fields and weeds. I got my feet and pants soaked through. Was feeling a little peed off then I found a place to have breakfast. This picture is the long stretch of beach from perranport Passed a beautiful  field of flowers I passed on the way
